This week, we’re bringing you a critical update regarding Outlook for iOS that could impact many of you using Apple devices. Microsoft has changed the minimum system requirements for the Outlook app on iOS, and it’s important to know what this means for you and your team.

What’s Changing?

Outlook for iOS will now only be supported on the two most recent versions of iOS. Currently, iOs 17 is the latest version, but with iOs 18 just around the corner, there’s an important shift happening:

  • iOS 16 Will No Longer Be Supported: Once iOS 18 is officially released, Microsoft will drop support for devices running iOS 16. This means that if your device is still using ios 16, you won’t receive any more updates for the Outlook app.
  • Continued Use on Older Versions: You can still use the older version of Outlook on iOs 16, but be aware that eventually, the app will stop syncing your emails and calendar data unless you upgrade your device’s operating system.
  • No Impact on iOS 17 or Newer: If your device is running ios 17 or will be updated to iOs 18, you’re in the clear. The latest updates and features will continue to roll out to your Outlook app as usual.

What Should You Do to Avoid Disruptions?

  • Update Your Devices: Make sure your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch are updated to iOS 17 or higher once iOS 18 becomes available. This will ensure that you continue receiving updates and your Outlook app continues to function smoothly.
  • Communicate the Changes: If you’re managing a team, let everyone know about these changes so they can prepare and update their devices accordingly.

Keeping your software up-to-date is essential not only for accessing new features but also for maintaining the security and reliability of your apps.

Thank you for staying informed, and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
